Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Wound Care Level I for a travel nursing job in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Job Description & Requirements

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour (08:00 – 16:30)

Start Date: 11/24/2025

Schedule:

Every other weekend

Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 2 years inpatient hospital wound care

Certifications:

Required: BLS

Preferred: CWOCN (Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse certification)

Charting: EPIC experience required

License:

Active VA RN license (pending acceptable if obtained by Wednesday before start)

Education: BSN preferred

References: Required

COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required

Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions

Skills & Competencies

Braden Scale assessment

Wound VAC therapy

Pressure ulcer prevention, assessment & management (Stage I–IV)

Venous, neuropathic, and arterial ulcer assessment & management

Colostomy, ileostomy, and continence skin care management

Ostomy equipment selection and patient education

Necrotic tissue and fistula management

Adult & pediatric risk assessment tools

Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, Social Services, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

Provide consultation, education, and direct patient care for wound, ostomy, fistula, and incontinence needs

Lead hospital-wide pressure injury prevention initiatives

Support data collection, policies, and product selection for wound/skin care

Perform pre-op stoma site marking and post-op ostomy education

Evaluate and recommend wound/ostomy care products

Develop educational programs for staff and patients

Unit Details

Patient population: Neonates Geriatrics

~8 patient visits per day

Must be able to use lift equipment and manage wound vac systems

Float within scope of practice as needed

Contract Details

Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week

Orientation: 40 hours

Modules: Up to 16 non-billable hours (in Workday)

RTO: Max 40 hours per 13-week contract — must be declared before submission

Return Policy: Travelers cannot work >365 days total at UVA (no rehire after 365 days)

Travel Experience: Preferred, not required
