The primary purpose of the Business Development Partner is to recruit, onboard, develop, and coach new advisors during their first four years. You will play an important role in helping these advisors establish their business and witness their growth by supporting them in building a holistic financial services practice that includes life and health insurance and wealth products. You will report to the District Manager and collaborate with the district and regional team.

What will you do?

Source candidates for the Sun Life advisor role through community contacts, referrals, and centres of influence.

Support candidates and ensure a positive onboarding experience, including licensing studies, market identification, business planning, and joint client appointments.

Train and onboard new advisors, overseeing the successful implementation of their onboarding plan. Conduct training in areas such as product knowledge and sales processes, providing pre- and post-sales support.

Develop advisor skills through coaching in areas like holistic business practices, cross-selling opportunities, sales cycles, business management, and prospecting.

Assist advisors in meeting their financial and strategic objectives, such as sales growth, productivity, and client engagement.

Partner with head office teams to support advisors.

Monitor and analyze advisor activities and data to gain insights into business practices.

Ensure compliance with operational and regulatory requirements at the district level, including licensing, registration, and product suitability reviews.

Escalate client complaints and conduct investigations as needed.

Ensure advisor conduct aligns with the Advisor Agreement.

Achieve key recruiting and production metrics.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and relationship-building abilities.

Knowledge of insurance and wealth products.

Ability to support advisors in defining and accessing their target markets.

Experience leading sales teams.

Understanding of the regulatory environment.

What will be nice to have:

Minimum 2 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Valid Life Insurance Agent’s license in the province.

Valid Mutual Fund license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.

Completion of the Branch Manager’s Course Examination and meeting the experience requirements to become a registered mutual fund branch manager within 6 months.

Good standing with regulators.

Proficiency with technologies such as Salesforce, financial planning software, CRMs, and Microsoft applications.
