Trusts & Estates Attorney
Location: California (multiple office options available)
Seniority Level: Associate or Counsel
Compensation: $200,000-$275,000 base + performance incentives (total potential comp: $235,000-$335,000)
Work Arrangement: In-office or hybrid, depending on location
A growing national law firm is looking to add an experienced trusts and estates attorney to its tax practice. This role is suited for someone who enjoys working closely with high-net-worth individuals and families to develop tailored estate plans and tax strategies. You'll be part of a collaborative team that values mentorship and encourages long-term growth within the firm.
This position offers direct access to clients, a wide variety of planning work, and the chance to grow your own book of business in a well-supported environment.
What You'll Do:
Develop and implement comprehensive estate plans
Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts (revocable and irrevocable), deeds, and powers of attorney
Advise on gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
Assist in trust administration, probate proceedings, and post-death matters
Prepare and review Form 706 estate tax returns
Engage regularly with clients and help guide them through complex planning decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of estate planning experience at a law firm
Background working with high-net-worth clients on complex planning needs
California or Arizona Bar admission (based on office location)
Tax LL.M., CPA, or strong tax foundation preferred
International estate planning experience is a plus
Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or another language is highly valued
Strong academic credentials
