Associate Attorney. New York Law Firm concentrating on Elder Law, Trust & Estates, Surrogate’s Court litigation, and guardianships seeks a full-time attorney with excellent verbal and written communication skills to join our growing practice. Excellent opportunity for an attorney new to this field looking to develop their professional skills, work directly with clients and Courts.
We have multiple office locations across New York and New Jersey. This position involves working mainly at our Staten Island office location, with occasional travel to our office location in Lower Manhattan (11 Broadway).
Applicants for this position are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working at a law firm. While this is the basic requirement, additional experience in areas such as estate planning, estate administration, real estate transactions, Medicaid planning, and special needs planning is considered a plus. In addition, familiarity with fiduciary accounting, tax experience, and hourly billing will be advantageous for candidates seeking this role. NYS Bar admission is required. Admission in New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania is a plus.

Candidates for this position must have:
New York Licensed Attorney
Two (2) or more years experience working at a law firm
An excellent work ethic
Superior communications skills
Research skills
Client service oriented with the ability to meet with clients and assess their needs
Organized, team player who is considerate and able to work well with others
Self-motivated and proactive in organizing work, able to anticipate issues
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Must have a car.
Responsibilities include:
Drafting, proofreading and finalizing estate planning documents
Estate administration processing from start to finish
Representing clients in contested and uncontested estate proceedings
Communication with clients, financial institutions, public benefits agencies and courts
Marketing, social media projects and community events for the firm
Concierge service to clients
Support of the Medicaid intake and application processing
Court Appearances, as needed
Filing of documents at the Court, Medicaid office or County Clerk’s office, as needed
Experience with Westlaw, Lexis or Fastcase, strong Microsoft Suite experience preferred,
Compensation package includes:
Salary $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year (based on Candidate’s level of experience), subject to revision during the annual evaluation
