As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. You'll play a critical role in the treatment of cancer and other diseases, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accuracy throughout the therapy process.
As a Radiation Therapist, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment
Position patients accurately and comfortably for each treatment session
Verify treatment settings and patient identity before delivering therapy
Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety and comfort
Use imaging technology (e.g., CT, X-rays) to guide accurate treatment delivery
Document treatment details and maintain accurate patient records
Communicate effectively with physicians, dosimetrists, and other team members
Educate patients and families on procedures, side effects, and care during treatment
Inspect, maintain, and calibrate radiation therapy equipment regularly
Follow strict radiation safety protocols for both patients and staff
The ideal candidate must have at least one year of experience as a Radiation Therapist. Additionally, they should possess a current BLS certification and hold the ARRT (T) National Certification. State licensure may be required.
Radiation Therapists should be able to stand for long periods, work precisely with complex equipment, and offer compassionate care in emotionally sensitive situations.
