Job Title: Cytotechnologist
Job Description
As a Cytotechnologist, you will perform accurate readings of Non-Gyn, urine, and FNA cytology specimens. You will be responsible for the microscopic evaluation of prepared cytologic specimens and manage all aspects of the cytology specimen workflow, including receiving, accessioning, processing, staining, cover-glass mounting, resulting, and reporting. Additionally, you will assist with fine-needle aspirations and core biopsies.
Responsibilities
Perform initial cytological evaluations of non-gynecological specimen preparations, including FNA and special stains.
Conduct slide preparations onsite in the clinic for necessary procedures.
Process specimens to be sent to reference labs for further testing or consulting.
Troubleshoot basic pathology procedures and instrumentation issues.
Complete maintenance logs daily to ensure analyzers function optimally and meet laboratory standards.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biology, or Medical Laboratory Science.
1-year working experience in cytology from a CLIA accredited lab.
ASCP Certification and Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification.
Proficiency in laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
CPR certification
Work Environment
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 3:30 pm. The work environment does not include weekend or on-call duties. Employees benefit from a 3% merit raise after each year of experience earned.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $49.00/hr.
