At Centrica Energy Storage +, our mission is to store it.

Our onshore and offshore teams are united in their goal, to boost the UK’s energy security and drive down bills for customers. Rough, our North Sea storage facility, currently provides half of the UK’s gas storage – enough to heat 2.4 million homes over winter. But we’re not stopping there. We’ve got our sights set on transforming it into the world's largest hydrogen storage facility and creating a Net Zero connected energy hub in the Humber.

Centrica Energy Storage (CES+) is the owner and operator of Rough, the UK's largest gas storage facility. Rough helps manage seasonal demand and energy security. CES+ has increased the capacity at Rough to 54bcf and continues to explore its role in the future of hydrogen.

In this role you will operate a wide range of offshore process and utilities equipment and systems, working safely and in strict compliance with Company and regulatory requirements.

Equipment covered includes gas production systems, condensate and water separation systems, wells, power generation, DCS, fire and gas systems, ESD systems and platform utilities.

Key Accountabilities

Reports directly to the Operations Supervisor

Monitor the DCS & F&G/ESD control systems, ensuring the plant is operated in a safe and efficient manner complying with company procedures

Responding to F&G/ESD alarms, provide the first response to any platform status changes or emergencies.

Monitors/controls hydrocarbon flows and plant conditions, reports malfunctions and makes recommendations on/carries out necessary adjustments.

Prepares plant/equipment for maintenance work, undertakes re-commissioning/re-start activities.

Supports Supervisor within the Permit to Work process to design, verify, and apply isolations.

Supports Performing Authorities within the Permit to work system in preparing permits and verifies they are ready for authorisation by the platform OIM.

Deputise for Supervisor as PTW Issuing Authority when required.

Utilise operations experience to add value to work planning process, assist with permit verification walks when required.

Ensures field and plant flows are maintained to platform requirements and specifications.

Controls and Monitors plant operations, identifies abnormal situations and takes appropriate actions.

Carries out site checks and gas checks prior to commencing work.

Assists in the shutdown and start-up of plant and equipment.

Safely recover plant from shutdown situations to minimise production losses

Carries out process system sampling, plant inspections, isolations, gas tests, chemical injections, etc.

Ensures all production reporting requirements are carried out.

Completes detailed written and verbal shift handovers using appropriate logs and procedures.

Contributes to safety initiatives and role models company safety culture.

Experience and Qualifications

HNC or equivalent in Operations, engineering discipline, or Safety qualification.

Previous experience in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry or experience in Onshore Oil and Gas processing and / or Petrochemical Experience preferred.

Good knowledge of Microsoft office applications

Good self / team leadership and analytical skills

Good problem-solving skills and an ability to influence at all levels

Proven communication skills
