Description:

The Position Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is recruiting for Social Worker 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following programs: Adult Protective Services (APS) and Office of Community Living (OCL). This recruitment is to underfill a Social Worker 2 with OCL and Social Worker 3 with APS.

Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority.

Social workers with APS investigate reports of abuse, neglect, exploitation, isolation and abandonment involving vulnerable adults ages 18 and older and adults 60 and older, ensuring timely case initiation, home visits, and assessments.

APS uses a person-centered approach to evaluate risk, review records, identify service needs, and make referrals; and determine case outcomes based on regulations and close cases following thorough investigation and intervention to ensure client safety.

Social Workers with OCL ensure a coordinated system to meet the needs of at-risk elderly and disabled individuals to support community living and prevent institutionalization.

Responsibilities include eligibility determination, care planning, home visits, development and implementation of individualized care plans, home visits, and accurate documentation using web-based case management software.

ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, a positive working environment, and is committed to fostering an environment of both inclusiveness and diversity within our workforce.

The mission of ADSD is to empower individuals and their support systems by providing resources for disabilities and aging-connecting Nevadans to services and improving their quality of life.
