Job Description
General Duties and Responsibilities Required of Respite Staff:
Responsible for the well being and safety of children with SED diagnosis.
Provide supervision of children and assistance with arts and crafts, reading, social skill building, and recreational play.
Leads recreational activities that are developmentally appropriate.
Initiates interventions to encourage appropriate behaviors as specified in the respite care plan and within agency guidelines.
Provides the following as needed and approved: transporting/escorting children to activities, assisting with homework, and participating in service/treatment planning and case reviews.
Interact positively with the children, dealing with difficult behaviors exhibited in ways that promote growth and wellbeing.
Communicates effectively with family members, supervisors and with other staff members.
Prepares written reports and documentation of interactions with children as well as needs and irregularities.
Completes all required paperwork accurately and within the established timeframe.
Meets with the Program Director on a regular basis, participates in mandatory trainings.
Contributes to the professional reputation of the agency.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or certified GED.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check under state regulations.
Have reliable transportation to and from the respite center.
