Job Title: Doorman (McCowan)

Position Summary:
The Doorman is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and hospitable environment at the main entrance of our elderly apartment complex. This role involves greeting residents and visitors, monitoring access, assisting with resident needs, and ensuring the entrance area is well-maintained. The ideal candidate is courteous, attentive, and compassionate, with a commitment to serving the elderly community.
Education/Certification Requirements: A person must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Experience Requirements:
Experience working in a customer-facing environment, such as a doorman, concierge, or security-related role, with a strong emphasis on delivering professional and courteous service. Previous experience supporting elderly populations or residents in a community setting is highly desirable. This individual should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate a friendly and patient demeanor while maintaining professionalism in all interactions. A solid understanding of basic security procedures, access control, and conflict de-escalation is preferred, along with the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and discretion.
Qualifications:
This position requires a professional appearance and adherence to uniform standards at all times. Candidates must successfully pass a background check prior to employment. Possession of current First Aid and/or CPR certification is preferred but not required, as training may be provided. Bilingual ability is a plus, with preference for candidates fluent in English and Spanish to better serve the resident community.
Duties/Responsibilities of Position:
Greet residents, guests, and visitors warmly, fostering a welcoming and professional atmosphere at all times.
Assist elderly residents with small tasks such as carrying packages, opening doors, or providing directions.
Verify visitor identities and ensure compliance with building access and security policies.
Monitor the main entrance to prevent unauthorized access and maintain safety for all residents.
Report any suspicious activity, safety concerns, or incidents promptly to the Property Manager or security team.
Maintain an accurate log of visitors, deliveries, and incidents during assigned shifts.
Ensure the entrance area and lobby are kept clean, tidy, and free of hazards or debris.
Monitor and report any issues with entry systems, including intercoms, keypads, or security cameras.
Respond to resident inquiries and requests promptly and courteously, maintaining a service-oriented attitude.
Provide information to residents and visitors regarding building amenities, events, and services as needed.
Receive and handle deliveries, notifying residents and ensuring packages are securely stored or distributed.
Communicate effectively with the Property Manager and other staff to ensure seamless coordination of building operations.
Participate in shift handovers to maintain accurate communication and continuity of service.
Act as a point of contact during emergencies, following established safety and evacuation procedures.
Assist residents with mobility challenges or emergency needs, as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic understanding of building security, access control, and emergency response procedures.

Reliable, punctual, and capable of working evening shifts (4:00 PM - midnight), including weekends.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, residents, and management staff.
Ability to communicate clearly with people from diverse backgrounds, including elderly or disabled residents.
Demands/Environment:
Work involves standing or sitting for extended periods, occasional lifting or carrying of light packages (up to 25 lbs.), and frequent interaction with residents and visitors. The position is typically performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment but may require working outdoors when assisting residents or monitoring entry areas. The employee may be exposed to repetitive motion, noise, and occasional high-stress situations requiring a calm and professional response.
Shifts:
Full-time: 30 -36 hours per week
