Overview
Position: Principal Scientist Cheminformatics & Computational Chemistry
Location: Columbus, OH On-Site
Rate: $55/hr with benefits does not include PTO
Duration: 12-month contract to hire
Candidates: US Citizens or GC Holders
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of cheminformatics tools, APIs, and software that enhance chemical data workflows and content pipelines.
Apply advanced computational chemistry techniques to model stereochemistry, coordination chemistry, and molecular interactions.
Architect reusable frameworks for chemical data processing, search, and visualization.
Collaborate with scientists, product owners, and developers to deliver high-impact solutions in Agile environments.
Mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
Champion best practices in test automation, CI/CD, and observability across cheminformatics platforms.
Qualifications
PhD or Masters in Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, or related field (Bachelors with exceptional experience considered).
10+ years of experience in cheminformatics, computational chemistry, or scientific software development.
Strong programming skills in Java, Python, and JavaScript with experience in libraries such as RDKit or Open Babel.
Familiarity with MEAN/MERN stacks, AWS, Docker, Git, Jenkins, and automated testing frameworks.
In-depth understanding of stereochemistry, coordination chemistry, and molecular modeling.
Proven success leading cross-functional scientific and technical teams.
Strong communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience applying AI/ML to chemical data analysis.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and scalable data infrastructure.
Knowledge of connection table algorithms and chemical structure processing.
Passion for mentoring and continuous learning.
