We are seeking a qualified Gastroenterologist to provide locum tenens coverage at a healthcare facility in the state of Virginia, located in a central area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to high-quality patient care on a flexible, short-term basis.
Position Details:
Specialty: Gastroenterology
Location: Central Virginia (near Haynesville, VA)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing, with flexibility for duration (short-term coverage through at least 12/31/2024)
Shift Type: 24-hour on-call shifts (7 AM to 7 AM)
Patient Population: Inpatient
Patient Volume: Approximately 3 patients per day
Practice Setting: Hospital
Support Staff: Available at the facility, including trained medical staff to assist with patient care
EMR: Meditech (with plans to transition to Expanse)
Required Procedures: ERCP and EUS are mandatory; must be comfortable performing these advanced procedures during on-call shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide locum coverage for gastrointestinal (GI) services at the hospital
Perform necessary GI procedures, including ERCP and EUS, for inpatient care
Manage GI emergencies and provide consultations as needed
Work collaboratively with the hospitals healthcare team to ensure high-quality care
Provide weekend coverage (Thursday-Sunday or Friday-Monday, based on availability)
Participate in call coverage 7 AM to 7 AM
Qualifications:
Board-certified or board-eligible in Gastroenterology
Current, active medical license in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure
DEA and CSR certification required
Proven experience with ERCP and EUS procedures
Comfortable with Meditech (knowledge of Expanse a plus)
