Job Description
Salary:
JOB PURPOSE: This position can be individual or group counseling. The Counselor is responsible for assisting patients in identifying, maximizing, and relating their strengths to appropriate social, educational (academic and vocational), and occupational goals. The Counselor is also responsible for helping the patients prepare and adjust to a drug free existence, and to offer assistance (emotional and physical) in problematic issues. The Counselor is responsible to the OperationsManager for provision of services to assigned patients and adherence to schedules, established program policies andprocedures, and applicable federal, state, local and accrediting agency regulatory requirements. The Counselor willperform duties within the scope of their license or certification which are an addendum to this job description.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct alcohol and drug abuse counseling sessions on a regular basis per state regulation, or as part of the
individual treatment plan.
Conduct group counseling sessions as required.
Orient patients to the treatment programs operation and procedures.
Implement or revise patient treatment plans with the patient as required per state regulation and record a review of the patients progress.
Develop within (10) days of entry or as required by state guidelines, whichever is more stringent, a formal treatmentplan documenting patient goals and update utilizing the same guidelines.
Maintain patient records that are complete, comprehensive and well organized.
Hold a basic understanding of alcohol/drug abuse and addiction. Additionally, keep up-dated on current drug abuseand treatment information, especially current trends in Opioid Maintenance Treatment.
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in Social Work or Counseling or other social services.
One year of experience dealing with substance abuse patients.

Ability to lift minimum 25 pounds.
Ability to perform job responsibilities in a facility with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical
transportation.
Operates a computer and keyboard.
TRAVEL:
Travel may include site visits throughout the organization on an as-needed basis.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position, and core hours and workdays are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30pm. This positionmay require evening or weekend work.
