Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic services to patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing facilities. This role involves working with individuals of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics, to enhance their ability to perform daily activities and improve their overall quality of life. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Responsibilities
Assess patients' needs and develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs).
Provide therapeutic interventions in various settings, including acute care, outpatient clinics, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in discharge planning and case management to ensure continuity of care.
Work with individuals with disabilities and special needs, including those on the autism spectrum, to promote functional independence.
Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to inform treatment strategies and interventions.
Document patient progress accurately using medical terminology and maintain comprehensive care records.
Engage in early intervention strategies for pediatric patients to support developmental milestones.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and home exercises.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
Requirements
Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience in acute care settings, ICU experience preferred.
Familiarity with skilled nursing facility operations and post-acute care services is advantageous.
Strong understanding of medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices.
Knowledge of speech therapy techniques is a plus but not required.
Experience working with diverse populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with disabilities.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
