CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time

DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, BBC Local

LOCATION: Hull & Lincoln

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £72,000 - £90,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As an Executive Editor in BBC Local two days are never the same. From overseeing creative programming to ensuring everyone on your teams can deliver great work - there is never a dull moment. Running BBC Radio Humberside & BBC Radio Lincolnshire is an opportunity to lead two talented audio teams and ensure they continue to meet local audience needs on both linear and digital platforms. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

You will be responsible for overseeing the audio teams in Hull and Lincolnshire. Both have had a good year in terms of good Rajar performance and delivering excellent creative projects like Coldplay in Hull and Farmwatch. Working with the management teams at both stations you will build on that success - setting a vision for the team in line with the divisional strategy. You will oversee the radio schedules, work the presenters and production teams and develop ideas for digital commissioning and visualisation.

You will hold regular team briefs and one to one meetings. You will be accountable for making sure both teams are aware of their KPIs/targets and have the support they need to deliver them.

You will have a deep level of understanding of target audiences to both stations and good ideas for how to reach underserved groups

You will split your time across both sites and be good at prioritising where to focus on next.

You will provide inspirational leadership, support career development/talent retention and act as role model to your teams and colleagues.

You will collaborate with a other leaders on the regional management team and maximise the impact of our best content. You will also have the ability to innovate and develop pitches and ideas for digital platforms along with your teams.

You will role model the BBC values in your leadership and have a track record of establishing a positive, engaged and supportive culture.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

Editorial leadership experience

Track record for leading creativity and innovation

Demonstrable understanding of the audiences to BBC Local and the opportunities for growth

First class communication skills

Energy and resilience

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

Evidence of changing workplace culture, challenging poor behaviour/performance

Experience of managing change
