Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse – Travel Nursing Job in Columbus, Ohio

Estimated weekly pay: $2,580 - $2,650.

PICU RN Job Details

Location: Columbus, OH 43205 (Ohio nursing jobs)

Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract

Contract Length: 8 weeks (must start by 12/1/2025)

Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30); 3x12s or 4x12s per week

Shifts per week: 3 or 4 (3x12s or 4x12s)

Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Healthcare Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), with floating to NICU, Emergency Department (ED), stepdown, and med-surg units as needed

Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults

Unit Size: 20 beds, average daily census of 13

Weekend Coverage: Required

Orientation: 36 hours

PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Ohio or Compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)

Minimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience (CVPICU experience preferred)

Experience in a 30-bed or greater PICU strongly preferred

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart Association preferred)

2 supervisory references required (one must be from a manager or supervisor)

Willingness and ability to float to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and med-surg units as needed

Cannot have worked permanent staff at this facility within the last 2 years

Travel nurses only – no local candidates within 60 miles

COVID-19 vaccine not required

PICU RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex diagnoses, including congenital heart disease, pre/post-surgical care, heart failure, and transplants

Perform advanced clinical skills: arterial line management, chest tube care, intubation assistance, ventilator management, central/PICC line care, hemodynamic monitoring, and more

Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias, manage IV vasopressors, and provide continuous sedation as needed

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response

Adhere to strict infection control and isolation precautions

Float to other critical care and acute care units as required, adapting to various patient populations and unit protocols

Document patient care accurately and efficiently in accordance with hospital policies
