The EHS & Security Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all corporate, local, and national regulations regarding Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) within the manufacturing facility.
This position plays a key role in fostering a safe work environment, preventing accidents, reducing environmental impact, promoting a culture of sustainability and regulatory compliance, and ensuring adherence to CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.
The role also ensures the implementation of security procedures that protect employees, visitors, assets, and information.
Key Responsibilities and Main Activities
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS):
Implement and manage corporate and plant EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, as well as all applicable national, state, and local regulations.
Coordinate risk assessments, safety inspections, and internal EHS audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Lead accident and incident investigations with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of preventive actions.
Manage chemical inventory and ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage according to applicable regulations.
Maintain compliance with environmental permits and authorizations, including waste management, emissions, and wastewater.
Oversee the handling, classification, and final disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Monitor environmental performance indicators (air emissions, energy use, waste, water consumption) and implement improvement programs.
Develop and execute annual safety and environmental plans, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
Update and manage the plant’s emergency response plan and Civil Protection requirements.
Conduct EHS and environmental awareness training for new hires and current employees.
Ensure all EHS-related documentation, reports, and records are complete, updated, and available for inspections or audits.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement in environmental and safety performance.
Security and CTPAT Compliance:
Coordinate plant security programs to protect employees, visitors, and company assets.
Supervise security personnel and ensure compliance with corporate security policies and local regulations.
Maintain and ensure compliance with CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) standards, including the periodic review and update of all related documentation.
Collaborate with corporate security and logistics teams to ensure supply chain security and CTPAT requirements are consistently met.
Conduct internal audits and site inspections to verify adherence to CTPAT guidelines and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Provide training and awareness programs on CTPAT and security protocols for employees and contractors.
Conduct periodic inspections of fire protection systems, alarm systems, and access control mechanisms.
Ensure compliance with national fire and emergency codes.
Manage security vendor relationships, including guard services and external contractors.
Respond to inquiries from government agencies or external parties regarding safety, security, or environmental matters.
Implement and maintain the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, ensuring the availability of required supplies.
Lead awareness campaigns on security and emergency preparedness.
Support corporate and customer audits related to EHS, Security, and CTPAT topics.
Education, Experience & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Management, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar EHS or Environmental & Safety coordination role within a manufacturing environment.
Certifications: Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. Security management experience is a strong plus.
Knowledge:
Solid understanding of environmental and occupational health regulations.
Experience leading EHS audits and investigations.
Familiarity with national/international environmental legislation and safety standards.
Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to prepare technical reports and present EHS data to management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
