Description of WorkCherry Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technologist I. Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory, this position is responsible for a wide variety of both moderate and high complexity laboratory tests. Professional judgement is a requirement for this position. The person will be responsible for producing accurate and reliable test results which contribute to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physiological and pathological conditions. This position is for a Generalist with responsibility as a lead technologist in one of the specialist areas in the laboratory. CAP regulatory standards will be followed and adhered to these standards. Cherry Hospital performs Hematology/Urinalysis, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Miscellaneous manual test.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $56,094 - $84,140

Considerable knowledge of the variety of laboratory procedures.

Thorough knowledge of the hazards of working with potentially infectious materials and the appropriate safety precautions to avoid infections.

Demonstrated experience using laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and terminology.

Knowledge of the pathophysiological processes being monitored and how the medical laboratory science is applied.

Management Prefers: MT(ASCP) – Medical Technologist or MLS (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Scientist

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution

or

Associate degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory

or

Completion of a Certified Laboratory Assistant course in medical technology

or

A comparable course and three years of experience in a medical laboratory

or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
