Position Summary
The Maintenance Lead oversees all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance to ensure optimal uptime, reliability, and safety across the plant. This role combines hands-on mechanical and electrical repair work with leadership, planning, and coordination responsibilities. The Maintenance Lead serves as the primary liaison between maintenance personnel, management, and external vendors to maintain efficient operations and a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Operations
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machine and facility breakdowns including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime.
Install and commission new machinery and equipment, including rigging, leveling, and anchoring.
Fabricate or modify parts and assemblies from sketches, blueprints, or verbal instructions.
Conduct building maintenance and repairs including roofing, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
Ensure maintenance tasks comply with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
2. Leadership & Supervision
Lead and direct maintenance staff, ensuring work assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training for maintenance team members.
Manage scheduling, performance feedback, and ongoing development of maintenance personnel.
Collaborate with management to align maintenance goals with production schedules and facility needs.
3. Planning & Administration
Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs and maintenance records.
Manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and track expenditures.
Prepare purchase requisitions and coordinate procurement of parts, materials, and supplies.
Source and manage third-party vendors and contractors for specialized services.
Maintain accurate documentation for MSDS, compliance audits, and safety inspections.
4. Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free maintenance environment.
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
Support facility upgrades, expansions, and long-range capital planning.
Qualifications Preferred:
Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
Five (5) years of hands-on mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Three (3) years in a leadership, supervisory, or lead technician capacity.
Working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC, and PLC troubleshooting.
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
Qualifications Minimum:
High school diploma or GED required.
Two (2) years of electrical or electronic troubleshooting experience.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Cutting, brazing, welding, and fabrication experience required.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift 40 lbs and work at heights.
