Your responsibilities will include:
We are looking for an experienced Technician to join our team at Garden Island. Reporting to AWS Sustainment Operations Manager, you will undertake training and development in order to qualify as an Aegis Computer Network Technician (ACNT). In this role you will provide technical support to the operation and maintenance of the Aegis Combat System (ACS) networking elements on the Hobart Class DDGs and AWD program land-based sites within Australia.
The kinds of activities you will contribute to within the team are:
Support the operation and maintenance of the combat system operational environment, application software, networking and display elements.
Troubleshoot system failures or anomalies and provide solutions to restore functionality.
Facilitate ship test and acceptance activities following system updates.
Assist in the maintenance of the database of the hardware, firmware and computer program configurations
Provide advice to RAN on Aegis Weapon System (AWS) operations and maintenance.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A Diploma in a relevant discipline (electronics, electrical engineering, Unix systems administration) and/or equivalent relevant experience
Ability to travel to undertake Aegis ACNT Operator & Maintenance training
A sound knowledge of complex computer system networks
Demonstrated experience with configuration of network devices (switches, routers, etc) from major commercial suppliers such as CISCO, HP or Juniper
The ability to develop and implement operational maintenance plans
The ability to provide advanced level of support on preventative and demand maintenance techniques
An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information
