We are seeking an experienced Field Robot Technician to play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of robotic systems at customer sites. This position requires a highly motivated and independent individual who is comfortable traveling extensively to various customer locations. Your primary responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical tasks, including the repair, maintenance, upgrading, and installation of cutting-edge robots, their controllers, and peripheral devices.
Location: Primarily Michigan, with travel across the United States. Ability to travel 50-80% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
Independent Travel: The successful candidate will be expected to manage their travel arrangements efficiently and independently, ensuring timely arrival at customer sites across Michigan and as needed, throughout the United States.
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to robotic systems, employ a systematic approach to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure longevity and reliable operation of robots and their components, following established protocols and best practices.
System Upgrades: Execute hardware and software upgrades on existing robotic installations, ensuring compatibility and seamless integration with new technologies.
New Installations: Install and configure new robotic systems, controllers, and peripheral devices at customer facilities, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to specifications.
Technical Support: Provide expert technical guidance and support to customers, explaining complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all service activities, including repairs, maintenance, and installations.
Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics technology, participating in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in a field service or technical support role, preferably within the robotics or automation industry.
Strong understanding of robotic systems, industrial controls, and automation principles.
Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse customers.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively, often on short notice.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections. Must be able to lift 25 pounds
