Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Center Nurse Executive or Designee, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/LNA) provides high-quality patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and well-being. The CNA assists with daily living activities, vital signs, mobility support, and other non-professional nursing duties to ensure positive clinical outcomes and patient/family satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.

Measure and record vital signs, weights, and intake/output per facility protocol.

Assist with ambulation, transfers, and proper positioning for comfort and safety.

Support nursing staff with treatments, procedures, and rehabilitation sessions.

Maintain infection control and adhere to all safety and PPE protocols.

Observe and promptly report changes in patient condition to nursing staff.

Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and post-mortem care.

Prepare and maintain patient rooms, supplies, and equipment in a clean, safe condition.

Document patient care activities using PointClickCare (PCC-POC) or other EMR systems.

Participate in ongoing training, in-service education, and performance improvement initiatives.

Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility compliance standards.

Specimen Collection Responsibilities

(where permitted by state law)

Collect nasal specimens for Point-of-Care (POC) testing per established protocols.

Maintain specimen integrity and labeling accuracy.

Utilize PPE appropriately, including N95/KN95 respirators, gowns, gloves, and face shields.

Complete all required specimen collection training, competency, and documentation.

Report equipment malfunctions or safety incidents during collection.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a State-Approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Basic computer literacy (PointClickCare experience preferred).

Proof of negative TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law.

Completion of at least 12 hours of continuing education annually.

Must be fit-tested and able to wear N95/KN95 respirator.

Preferred Experience / Consideration

Current enrollment in a Nursing Program or CNA Career Ladder Program.

Previous experience as a Lab Technician, Med Tech, or Med Aide (within scope).

Experience with Infection Prevention (IP) rounds or specimen collection.

Recommendation from licensed nurses or supervisors.

Additional Requirements

Maintain compliance with all regulatory, ethical, and facility standards.

Flexibility to stay beyond scheduled hours when required to meet patient care needs.
