Our client is an industry leading manufacturing company with an immediate need for a Design Engineer at its facility in northern Georgia. The Design Engineer will maintain designs, create new products and assist with other projects within the engineering department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform Engineering designs of various types and sizes of heavy duty trucks

Design equipment, tooling, and fixtures in SolidWorks / AutoCAD while using lean manufacturing principles

Continually evaluate tools and equipment options that will reduce cost in the operation.

Justify and spend capital in order to take advantage of machinery and equipment that will improve manufacturing/assembly operations.

Execute designs in collaboration with other members of the design team, sales, production and customers

Assist in the PDP (Product Development Process)

Create standard work documentation

May perform service work and provide customer support as required

Provide technical support for production operations

Research new technology to be used in the development of new and current products.

Assist other functional areas as directed

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

2+ years of design related experience in a manufacturing setting

2+ years of experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, or similar design software

Self-motivated with strong attention to detail

Able to work independently with minimal instruction

Superior communication skills (both written and oral)
