Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Technical and Digital Initiatives, the Library Specialist for Resource Acquisition & Description supports development and maintenance of the library's collection and access to library resources.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of professional library experience or high school diploma and five years of professional library experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of coursework in Library and Information Science.
Experience with OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards and AACR2.
Experience with a library management system.
At least one year of supervisory experience.

Job Summary
Performs bibliographic management operations: reviews and/or updates bibliographic, holding, and item records; imports and/or overlays bibliographic records; and confirms or updates authorized headings.
Performs original cataloging on an as-needed basis.
Maintains the integrity of the library's online catalog by identifying issues with bibliographic, holding and item records and taking the appropriate action.
Performs record cleanup and maintenance projects as needed and/or assigned.
Physically receives resources received by the library (journals, newspapers, serials, monographs, etc.).
Completes appropriate physical processing of resources, as determined by their format.
Identifies, verifies and resolves problems related to accessing the library's electronic resources.
Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates student employees.
Provides assistance with budget tracking and reporting.
