The Project Engineer acts as the focal point between engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams, ensuring mechanical systems (static and rotating equipment, piping, and structural supports) are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Reports to: Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination

Coordinate all mechanical engineering activities between design offices, fabrication yards, vendors, and offshore teams.

Review engineering deliverables (GA drawings, MTOs, datasheets, specifications) for mechanical equipment and piping systems.

Monitor progress of mechanical packages and report status against project schedule and milestones.

Ensure timely resolution of technical queries (TQs), deviations, and field engineering issues.

Assist in the preparation of project execution plans, method statements, and material requisitions.

2. Technical Oversight

Provide mechanical engineering input during design development, material selection, and construction planning.

Ensure compliance with client specifications (QatarEnergy, ADNOC, or ARAMCO) and international standards (API, ASME, ASTM, ISO).

Review vendor documents for pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, and piping components.

Support mechanical completion and pre-commissioning activities, including punch list clearance and system handover.

3. Interface & Coordination

Interface with fabrication, QA/QC, HSE, and commissioning teams for mechanical installation and testing.

Liaise with procurement to ensure timely delivery of long-lead items and critical spares.

Coordinate with offshore construction teams for installation readiness and field modifications.

Participate in progress review meetings, constructability reviews, and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).

4. Construction & Offshore Support

Review and approve mechanical work packs, test packages, and method statements.

Ensure offshore readiness of materials, tools, and manpower for installation campaigns.

Provide technical support during fabrication, load-out, and offshore hook-up phases.

Support inspection and testing activities such as hydrotesting, alignment, and mechanical completion walkdowns.

5. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, engineering status updates, and material tracking logs.

Maintain accurate records of mechanical drawings, specifications, and changes.

Contribute to preparation of project close-out and handover documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 8 years of EPC project experience, with at least 4 years in offshore environments (platforms, jackets, topsides, or subsea).

Strong technical knowledge of static and rotating equipment, piping systems, valves, and mechanical interfaces.

Familiar with project engineering tools such as SmartPlant, AutoCAD, and Aconex.

Understanding of fabrication, installation, and commissioning processes for offshore facilities.

Excellent coordination and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Certifications

Offshore Survival & H2S (BOSIET/HUET).

PMP or equivalent project management certification (advantageous).

ISO 9001:2015 awareness certification.

API/ASME mechanical codes training (preferred).

Key Competencies
