About the Role:
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all facilities within the educational environment. This position is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and executing repairs to maintain a functional and welcoming campus. The Maintenance Tech collaborates closely with administrative and teaching staff to minimize disruptions and support the educational mission. By maintaining building systems, grounds, and equipment, this role directly contributes to a safe and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty, and visitors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to facility upkeep, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in general maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety regulations.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
Experience working in an educational or institutional setting.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Basic knowledge of safety compliance standards such as OSHA.
First aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal functionality.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to provide timely repairs and minimize downtime.
Maintain and repair building infrastructure including doors, windows, lighting, and furniture to uphold safety and aesthetics.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or large-scale maintenance projects as needed.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory of supplies, and equipment servicing to support operational transparency and planning.
Skills:
The Maintenance Technician utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and repair a variety of building systems, ensuring minimal disruption to educational activities. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude allows for effective troubleshooting and maintenance of complex equipment. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with staff and external vendors, ensuring clear understanding of maintenance needs and project timelines. Organizational skills support the accurate documentation of maintenance work and inventory management, which is critical for operational efficiency. Additionally, adherence to safety protocols and regulations is paramount, requiring the technician to apply knowledge of compliance standards consistently.
