Bring your structural engineering expertise to projects that move communities forward. We're looking for a Bridge Engineer, PE to join our Transportation Planning & Design group in Columbus, Ohio, where you'll play a hands-on role designing and delivering the infrastructure that keeps people and goods connected.
In this role, you'll lead and contribute to projects that range from highway overpasses and pedestrian bridges to complex interchange and roadway structures. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients across public and private sectors to develop practical, buildable, and creative solutions for today's transportation challenges.
What You'll Do
Design and manage bridge and structural components for highway, roadway, and development projects.
Prepare detailed plans, cost estimates, reports, and specifications for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and foundations.
Provide technical direction and quality oversight for structural design efforts while mentoring junior engineers.
Review and coordinate with transportation, drainage, and utility disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
Support proposal development, budgeting, and client presentations.
Lead and support field inspections, construction phase services, and problem-solving in real time.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree (or M.S.) in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio.
Strong experience designing with reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel girders (straight and curved), and familiarity with wood or masonry a plus.
Proficiency with OpenRoads, OpenBridge Designer, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Leap Bridge, MIDAS, PyWall, L-Pile, and related software.
Prior work on ODOT, county, or municipal transportation projects following AASHTO and ODOT standards.
Experience leading structural design efforts, coordinating with agencies, and ensuring quality and compliance.
Bridge inspection or railroad structure experience (AREMA standards) a plus.
Why You'll Love It Here
This is more than a bridge design job—it's a chance to lead projects that shape Ohio's infrastructure while working in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. You'll have the autonomy to make technical decisions, mentor others, and see your designs built in the field.
