Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland

Work Arrangement: Hybrid In-Office

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and inspire multiple Development Pods in our dynamic fintech environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong C# development background who can effectively bridge technical expertise with people management excellence. You will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of development teams, ensuring delivery of high-quality solutions whilst fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and technical excellence. As a servant leader, you'll advocate for your teams, remove blockers, and provide strategic guidance to help engineers reach their full potential. Your technical foundation will be essential in understanding complex architectural decisions and supporting your teams through technical challenges. Primary Job Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day line management and leadership for multiple Development Pods, including performance management, career development, and team coordination

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and collaborative problem-solving across development teams

Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business objectives into actionable technical strategies and roadmaps

Remove blockers and advocate for your teams, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to deliver exceptional results

Guide architectural decisions and technical direction within pods, leveraging your development background to provide informed oversight

Facilitate cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing to drive organisational learning and best practices

Support recruitment efforts by participating in interviews and helping to identify top engineering talent

Monitor team health, productivity, and delivery metrics whilst maintaining focus on quality and technical debt management

Mentor engineers at all levels, providing guidance on technical challenges, career progression, and professional development

Perform other duties required by Management

Essential Criteria

BSc or MSc in Computer Science / related qualification OR equivalent commercial experience

Minimum 3+ years of people management experience, ideally leading software development teams

Strong background as a C# Developer with minimum 5+ years hands-on .NET development experience

Experience with software development lifecycle, including modern methodologies and delivery practices

Proven ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and advocate effectively for engineering teams

Strong leadership skills with experience managing multiple teams or complex project dependencies

Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Azure

Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and technical debt management

Track record of developing and retaining engineering talent

Legal right to work in the UK

Desirable criteria

Experience with Azure Functions, Queues, and other Azure services

Hold a Cloud certification

Experience in Financial services industry

Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD implementation

Experience with LEAN software development practices and continuous improvement methodologies

Background in scaling engineering organisations and establishing best practices

Understanding of modern development practices including testing methodologies and code quality standards
