Overview

Location: Jefferson, SC

Reports To: Paul Smith

We are seeking a safety oriented, experienced, self-motivated individual. This position is responsible for the safe and responsible maintenance and mechanical repairs to stationary equipment. The prime candidate will need to be adaptable / skilled to work from plant to mobile as well. Additional duties may include performing equipment checks, general labor and minor maintenance duties, as needed. All duties to be completed in such a manner as to comply with all company policies and governmental regulations, to include OSHA and MSHA.

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining and repairing various equipment

Performing preventative maintenance on the mechanical functions of equipment

Maintaining the neat appearance of equipment and work areas

Replacing or assisting other workers or operators as needed or directed

Following all safety procedures

Attending all scheduled training sessions and safety meetings

Maintains work area in orderly and hazard-free condition in plant area according to instructions by plant foreman

Cleans in the plant area by shoveling material off the floor and cleaning tunnels and conveyor structures

Checks guards, safety devices and warning signs to determine they are in proper position and in good working order

The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers

Performs any daily servicing and maintenance on plant equipment as needed and in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, using ladders to access platforms, and landings

Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as bob cat, skid steer, man lift, water truck, and haul truck. Report any problems to your manager

When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements

Properly follow all Federal, State and company policies, and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment

Follow directions of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site

Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies

Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing, and repair of equipment to further their abilities

Performing other duties as required to maintain an overall smooth and efficient operation or as requested or directed from time to time by management team

Abilities, Skills & Knowledge

High School diploma or equivalent, preferred

Two (2) to five (5) years of previous maintenance related / mechanic aptitude experience required; Basic equipment operator experiences strongly preferred

Knowledge and experience in welding, to include using a cutting torch. If required to use, must operate equipment and hand tools safely

Mechanical aptitude and knowledge, while performing hands-on troubleshooting techniques

The standards of knowledge for equipment operation

Possess a valid driver's license with a suitable driving record (MVR)

Be willing to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary

Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold

Respond quickly to hazards or safety concerns

Read, comprehend, and write the English language

Willingness to learn and operate wheel / clean-up equipment, as needed

Great attention to detail and safety minded

Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public always
