The Village of Ashwaubenon is accepting applications for a full-time Chief of Public Safety.
Ashwaubenon is a vibrant suburb of Green Bay surrounding historic Lambeau Field. While just 18,409 residents call it home, this regional hub to shop, work, and play grows to 35,000 or more during the day. While it is a football town at heart and the Green Bay Packers are an active member of the community, a large regional shopping district, the Resch Center (sports and entertainment arena), the Resch Expo (exposition hall), a performing arts center, a competitive collegiate baseball, and soccer stadium and the Epic Event Center (concert venue), provide loads of entertainment to both locals and tourists year-round.
Reporting to the Village Manager, the Chief of Public Safety provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for Wisconsin's only full-service department which provides comprehensive police, fire, and emergency services to the community. The department is comprised of 62.3 FTEs and includes the following direct reports: a deputy chief, information manager and a confidential administrative assistant.
The Chief plans, directs and exercises general supervision over the work of the Public Safety department with an annual department operating budget of over $9 million.
This position requires on-going analysis of budgets, processes, procedures, and policies that ensure a well-trained department that efficiently and effectively serves the changing needs of the community.
This position is appointed by the Police and Fire Commission.
Position Pay Range (2026): $144,136 - $150,935 - plus an attractive benefits package.
Qualified applicants should possess a minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience with at least 5 years in a law enforcement supervisory/command level capacity. Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, fire science, public administration, or related field or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Position requires candidate to be certified or obtain certification: as Law Enforcement Officer in Wisconsin, in Firefighter I, and NIMS through level 800. A valid, unencumbered Wisconsin driver's license is required.
