Support children with developmental disabilities or complex medical needs by assisting with personal care, daily living tasks, and social skill development. Follow the individualized Service Plan to help each child make consistent progress toward greater independence at home and in the community.
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a vital role in providing compassionate assistance to individuals with developmental and other disabilities, empowering them to live self-directed lives, reach personal goals, and actively participate in their communities. Promote inclusive attitudes and behaviors that foster community integration.
Qualifications and Abilities:
Demonstrate effective visual and auditory skills necessary for reading, writing, completing required documentation, operating assigned equipment or vehicles, and supporting individuals served through observation, assistance, and training.
Maintain cognitive and reasoning abilities to:
Make sound judgments in situations that may impact the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served
Organize and manage tasks efficiently
Respond appropriately to challenges and develop necessary documentation and plans
Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills
Obtain and apply First Aid, CPR, and behavior/aggression management techniques as required by the program and needs of individuals served
Follow instructions accurately
Communicate clearly and confidently with individuals served, their families, and staff using proper English, and acquire alternative communication methods when needed
