About us
JTC Installations is a commercial furniture installation company in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio. We receive, deliver, and install office furnishings that range from cubicles, private offices, seating, and fixtures to modular case and millwork. Product is taken or delivered to our project sites and assembled. JTC is a family owned business.
**Overview:**
The Warehouse Supervisor’s prime duty is to own and control all incoming and outgoing project related freight in addition to the facility itself. The WH Supervisor will assume total ownership of the receipt, staging, storage, picking, loading, and outgoing of product from the facility. Further, the WH Supervisor will maintain and log long term storage, coordinate outbound shipping, and work with active projects in the field to coordinate delivery of material product to site.
The WH Manager is part of JTC’s Core Operations and Management Team and will regularly collaborate with the Operations Team, Project Managers, and Schedulers. You will report directly to the General Manager and/or CEO of JTC.
**Responsibilities:**
Personnel Management
· Schedule Warehouse manpower according to needs on own.
· Supervises the daily work and safety of employees engaged in order selection, order loading, including all warehouse functions, selectors, loaders and night forklift operators.
· Supervises labor hours and consumable supplies within budget. Prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed.
· Supervises the proper utilization of Company assets in support of the warehouse. Coordinates required repairs with proper departments as necessary.
· Assist with the training of new associates
· Maintains associate relations through regular department or pre- shift meetings; maintains on-going interaction; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale; and submit and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement.
· Interprets trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.
· This person will be responsible for coordinating with project managers and field foreman as well as directing truck driver and warehouse staff
· Assign warehousing personnel tasks appropriately and evaluate results
· Ownership of those in the environment you are responsible for maintaining.
· Assist with resolving vendor disputes
Freight/ProductInbound
· Confirm all delivery appointments for daily incoming trucks.
· Work with Scheduler, Project Manager, GM for large scale jobs with multiple trucks and vendors.
· Responsible for answering warehouse phone to confirm appointments and obtain applicable information (piece count, weight, PO#, etc.). Return Phone calls.
· Oversee and manage the unloading and staging of all incoming product on a daily basis. The Assistant Warehouse Manager is in charge of this, but oversight needs to be conducted to ensure product is safely unloaded and staged and inspected for any potential damaged.
· Educate and Oversee an efficient unload that will help facilitate efficient loading and installation of product when installation is dispatched.
· Manage the checking off all packing lists.
· Conduct spot checks for outward damage and concealed damage.
· Take digital pictures when necessary. Report all discrepancies on packing list and to Operations team.
· Assemble all paperwork whether physical or digital and record into receiving log.
Outbound
· Work with Project Coordinators, Drivers, and Movers to pick and stage/load product for the next day’s outgoing projects.
· This requires the initiative to understand what is happening out in the field by meeting with the Scheduler and Ops Team. There is a demand for excellent communication to get the correct product loaded at the correct time.
· Product for projects should be staged and loaded when applicable on trucks that are available.
· Audit outgoing piece counts and mark out all outgoing product in the receiving log.
· Oversee and manage the processing, packing, and shipping back to manufacturers or clients any and all applicable product required.
· This includes obtaining shipping quotes from our 3PL carriers, and generating packing lists, filling out RMA paperwork, generating BOL, and contacting shipping company to arrange pick up.
Storage
· Oversee and Manage the preparation of long term storage products in an efficient manner that allows for easy and safe pallet picking and stowage. Secure this product to protect against water, dust, etc.
· Product must be specifically tagged and turned into Ops Team to process for invoicing of storage on a monthly basis.
Field SupportProject Prep
· Demonstrate product knowledge and continually learn as our market adapts.
· Ability to identify and procure correct items from stock to supplement projects.
· Coordinate deliveries based on install progression.
· Work the Project Managers and Scheduler to determine if any product for projects can be prepped, or prebuilt. Make sure such labor is costed to the correct job.
Returns
· Oversee the management of return product to warehouse.
Maintain a clean and organized return area and keep up to date with returns on a daily basis.
Facility
· Identify and resolve facility issues as sole keeper, and in conjunction with land lord.
o Examples; Leaking toilet, broken overhead doors, roof leaks, blown fuses, pallet racking, alarms, dumpsters, parking lot.
· Understands and maintains building code
· Understands and maintains fire code
· Understand and maintain proper storage and warehouse procedures
· Oversee and manage recycling and trash pickups.
· Keep shop clean and in workable condition at all times.
· Clean/sweep warehouse floors.
· Shovel Snow/salt areas when needed.
Vehicles
· Assist installation crew in cleaning of trucks, particularly the drivers assigned to trucks.
· Drivers and crews oversee emptying their own trash and debris efficiently and quickly and sweeping out their cabs and boxes.
· Oversee basic maintenance of trucks and warehouse vehicles.
**Skills:**
· Heavy Lifting is involved on daily basis
· Strong decision maker
· Certified Tow Motor Experience
· Must have own transportation
· Basic Computer skills required – email, data entry, Word, Excel
· Naturally organized with desire for space to be clean and well kept
· An organic sense of urgency
· Self-directed and adaptable
· Excels in fast-paced high energy environment—the day and our schedule changes multiple times
· Solid understanding of warehouse environment.
- Proven experience in supervising a distribution center or warehouse environment
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management principles and best practices
- Proficiency in production planning and transportation management
- Ability to drive continuous improvement in warehouse operations
- Strong communication and leadership skills to manage a diverse team
