Overview:
Equity, Wisconsin’s largest livestock marketing cooperative, is also one of the nation’s largest livestock marketing organizations. Service to its members is a primary obligation of all employees. This position will positively conduct activities and services of the Accounting Department under the direction of the Vice President of Finance.
Essential Functions:
Overseeing the preparation of accurate financial statements and ensuring they comply with accounting principles and guidelines.
Managing all aspects of accounting, including cash management, accounts payable and general ledger maintenance.
Establishing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
Manage and mentor accounting staff. Provide guidance and support to ensure professional development.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and support strategic decision-making.
Coordinate and lead external audits, providing necessary information and explanations to auditors.
Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies and align them with overall business goals.
Provide support to the corporate office and all market locations in Wisconsin and Iowa.
Process data through various software, including SAGE accounting software, proprietary livestock marketing software, and Microsoft Office suite.
Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, regulations, tax requirements, and applicable laws.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience; CPA Certification Preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate accounting or finance
Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and develop insights
Exceptional communication both verbal and written
Interpersonal skills, working efficiently, and well organized
