POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping Manager provides leadership and mentoring to the Shipping Department to ensure the departmental goals and objectives are met. They oversee all functions and daily activities of the shipping and receiving department. This is a management role that is ultimately responsible for the planning, organization, control, integration and completion of Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing activities. The Shipping Manager provides leadership and mentoring to departmental staff by sharing knowledge; providing direction and sharing ideas for improvement and efficiency while cultivating their team. This role must be knowledgeable in and follow all procedures needed to ensure the proper safe and efficient operations of their work area. Duties are performed under established guidelines and policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for ensuring shipping, receiving & warehousing activities are compliant with all government regulatory agencies.
Manages all functions of the department including but not limited to Shipping Lift Operator, Resin Tech and Samples Tech daily activities and performance.
Manages all shipping and receiving functions for the plant, the production rotation and organization, the smooth and accurate flow of materials to production lines, resin inventory and silo management.
Ensure the department creates and maintaining truckload and LTL carrier files with required information (i.e. certificate of insurance, rate structure authority, surety bond, etc.), secures and schedules approved LTL carriers.
Organizes and participates in all inventory audits, including weekly raw material audits and month end inventories, addresses discrepancies in inventory levels and skids scheduled for shipment as reported and makes appropriate corrective action.
Responsible for the identification, delivery and documentation of training needs for the Shipping and Receiving employees as well as providing an environment of support, learning and development for the shipping team.
Fosters a collaborative relationship between departments within Paragon to ensure business needs are met and accomplished in observance of core values.
Maintains a thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, works to gain an understanding of management duties and responsibilities for department.
Serves on a variety of assigned interdepartmental committees and acts as a liaison to Production Planning and Customer Service to facilitate departmental and corporate objectives.
Must be aware of authority limits and obtains appropriates approvals when necessary.
Enters information in the D365 computer system, check inventory levels, recall data and analyze report
Responsible for the organization, cleanliness and general housekeeping for the warehouse area
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
Minimum of three years of management experience with active forklift operation in a warehouse and production environment with small spaces
Minimum of five years of experience related to the operations of a shipping/receiving warehouse department
Demonstrated proficiency in all Shipping Tech and Shipping Lead essential functions
Ability to display and develop analytical skills as they apply to shipping and business
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead team members on a daily basis
Practice and promote teamwork within our organization, at all levels
Ability to interact with and engage with diverse personalities through tactful, mature and flexible communication and relationships
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement while adapting to fast paced environment and rapid changes
Able to effectively manage multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail
Strong organizational skills combined with problem-solving skills while recognizing and supporting the organization
High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality
Understanding and ability to communicate using the English language in both written and spoken form or willingness to take ESL classes with ability to provide clear and concise instruction to employees while teaching processes and procedures
Basic mathematic skills

Ability to use hands including fingers to hold, touch, see, feel, grip, squeeze, push, pull
Ability to perform pushing, pulling, forward exertion on a regular basis
Ability to have overhead extension with arms on a regular basis
Ability to use enhanced levels of manual dexterity with arms and hands to operate industrial power tools occasionally
Ability to sit, stand and walk continuously on concrete floor for 12-hour shifts
Ability stand, crouch, stoop, bend and squat frequently
Ability to kneel occasionally
Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally
Ability to work on elevated platforms
Ability to climb on uneven surfaces occasionally
Ability to regularly lift and or move between 45-55 lbs
Ability to occasionally lift and or move up to 65lbs
Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over paging system
Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a plastics manufacturing environment
