Operates and performs adjustments to laboratory equipment and instruments.

Position Overview:

• Under the supervision of the Manager, Quality Control or Supervisor, Test Laboratory is responsible for the testing of cards, readers, capillary tubes

• Also responsible for routine performance checks including Adaptive Process Control, incoming material verification, validation and Lifetime event testing

• Assistance with testing requirements for Process Engineering, Test Engineering and Research and Development experiments Responsibilities

• Test for various purposes (using written instructions) of card lots/readers/capillary tubes coming from the assembly departments

• Carry out routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of Quality Control Laboratory testing equipment and records these activities in maintenance logs with assistance and guidance from a higher-level technician

• Ability to track inventory of Quality Control Laboratory supplies and replace what is in house and communicate to responsible personnel reorder points

• Participate in testing process and equipment improvement efforts, including experimental testing. Maintain appropriate records for testing

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• Post-secondary education in a field of science or related field, and/or combination of education and technical experience

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and capable in troubleshooting basic technological issues

• Some working knowledge of GMP and good lab practices

• Routine, detailed nature of testing

• Flexibility required for varied nature of testing

• Regular and reoccurring exposure to blood from screened donors

• Flexibility with adjusting work hours to follow up with overnight shifts as scheduled including on-call support and navigating between site locations

• Attention to detail

• Proven ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment while satisfying personal responsibilities

• Ability to function in fast-paced environment

• Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities and multi-task

• Ability to assess and troubleshoot computers, software applications and equipment

• Ready to speak up about concerns

• Satisfaction derived from solid completion of tasks

• Clear understanding of health and safety in a lab environment

• Physical

o Manual dexterity

o Ability to distinguish between colours

o Combination of sitting and standing

o Extended periods of detailed visual inspection

o Involves regular and occurring exposure to blood from screened donors

o Work involves inventorying and processing cards, which requires walking, bending, stretching and occasionally lifting boxes up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Test Laboratory experience such as blood testing, use of pipettes, centrifuges, and table[1]top analyzers is an asset

• Knowledge of basic statistics

• Trained phlebotomist

The base pay range for this position is:

Min $44,000 - Max $82,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
