This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Costa Terra, set outside of Melides - Comporta.
As a Farm Supervisor, your role will to be responsible for overseeing daily Farm operations, managing staff, and ensuring the health of crops and animals. Your primary responsibilities involve planning and executing planting, harvesting, and maintenance schedules; maintaining equipment and facilities; and keeping records for productivity, safety, decoration standards and compliance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Carry out daily operations in accordance with the standards.
Maintain plants to ensure they meet specific production, visual, health, and production requirements and expectations.
Assemble, adjust, correct and maintain the irrigation system.
Immediately report any damage to any tools and equipment.
Develop work schedules, plan activities like land preparation and crop rotation, and manage supplies and consumables.
Ensures the maintenance program for all farm assets, tools, vehicles, machinery and equipment.
Monitor and enforce procedures to maintain the health and welfare of animals and crops, ensure proper biosecurity, and uphold safety and sanitation standards.
Attend meetings, training classes, and seminars as requested by the manager.
Oversee planting, cultivation, harvesting, and the care and feeding of livestock.
Coordinate and oversee the work of general farmhands and specialized workers, providing training on each of the tasks.
Supervise employees, ensuring that daily activities are aligned with the department and company goals and standards and assist with tasks as needed.
Ensure the smooth running of daily operations by coordinating tasks, managing staff, and addressing any issues that arise when possible and with management when needed.
Act as a point of contact for team members and stakeholders.
Perform any additional tasks assigned by managers.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of agricultural practices and techniques.
Ability to effectively manage and supervise staff.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors.
Knowledge of health, safety and biosecurity regulations
Ability to communicate in English
