We are looking for a Service Engineer E&A to join our Electrical & Automation Fields Services Resources team and enhance our after-sales support staff.
The preferred location for this position is in Harfleur, France.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Service Engineer E&A your work will include the following tasks:
Carry out field service activities related to electrical and automation systems for Wärtsilä products, including commissioning, trial tests, adjustments, repairs, and maintenance.
Perform advanced troubleshooting on-site to identify and resolve root causes of failures in electrical and automation equipment.
Lead and manage assigned tasks or teams on-site, coordinating with the customer to arrange schedules and ensure the desired scope of work is achieved.
Provide prompt feedback to the Work Coordination and Resources departments.
Ensure all work is executed in compliance with Wärtsilä's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) guidelines, as well as customer site procedures.
Inspect completed work to verify that repairs are finalized correctly and that machinery and equipment meet specifications and safety standards.
Proactively advise customers and promote available products and solutions.
Conduct site audits and provide support to sales departments.
Maintain detailed records of work performed and prepare comprehensive reports, including necessary details such as measurements, photos, methodologies, and investigations.
Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned tasks.
Track and report time spent on tasks, along with spare parts used.
Prepare technical and travel reports in English, ensuring timely submission and inclusion of all required documentation in accordance with Wärtsilä quality standards.
Be ready to travel on short notice, with more than 60% of working time spent away from home.
The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You'll be working as a part of a team with diverse expertise.
Requirements for the position
Technical knowledge in electrical and automation systems, communication networks and interfaces, sensors, actuators, and auxiliary equipment.
Proficient in computer skills, including the MS Office suite.
Willingness to travel approximately 60% of the time, work abroad, and work on board sailing vessels.
Good English and French skills in both reading and writing.
Strong communication skills.
Motivated to learn through classroom and field training, with a desire for rapid professional growth.
Ability to work effectively in a team, follow directives, and interact with people from diverse nationalities and cultures.

BS degree in marine engineering, electrical, electronic.
Previous experiences in similar roles or sailing while working in vessel’s engine rooms.

Préparer des rapports techniques et de voyage en anglais, en veillant à leur soumission dans les délais et à l'inclusion de toute la documentation requise conformément aux normes de qualité de Wärtsilä.
Être prêt à voyager à court préavis pour le 60 % du temps.

Des connaissances en programmation d'automates (PLC) et en systèmes SCADA.
