Income Maximisation Officer - Local Operations

South West Region - covering Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Cornwall and Surrounding areas - Base location subject to change dependant on successful candidates location

£32,887 - £34,617 per year plus £600 car allowance

37.5 hours per week

We have an excellent opportunity for an Income Maximisation Officer – local operations to join our Housing Income Team. We are looking for individuals that are passionate, proactive and dedicated in helping people thrive financially and sustain their tenancies. In this vital role, you will support residents to maximise their income, access benefits, and maintain their tenancies, helping to prevent homelessness and promote financial wellbeing.

The role of Maximisation Officer - Local Operations will include:

Deliver high quality tailored advice and support on welfare benefits, Universal Credit, and income-related entitlements

Support new customers with budgeting, benefit guidance, and digital inclusion

Maximise income collection while promoting tenancy sustainment

Work closely with housing teams and external agencies to ensure residents receive holistic support

Assist residents with benefit applications, appeals, and budgeting

Identify and support residents at risk of rent arrears or financial hardship, helping them to sustain their tenancies

Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on outcomes and impact

Provide expert coaching and technical support to income staff

Skills and experiences:

Experience in welfare rights, income maximisation, income recovery or financial inclusion

Strong knowledge of the UK benefits system and housing-related support

Excellent communication, negotiation and customer care skills

Ability to work independently and manage a caseload

Previous experience analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions

Proven knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and good practice

Knowledge of housing management/debt collection and related issues

Ability to work independently in community

Confidence using housing systems, Microsoft Office, and digital tools

Travel is a requirement of the role; therefore, a full valid driving licence is essential and access to a vehicle
