CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Corporate Engineering Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in geology. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy capital projects. Exposure to various plants and mine sites.

Compensation
$20.50-$27.00/hr DOE
Responsibilities
Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
Carry-out and practice all safety training and Company policies
Assist with all aspects of economic geology and land issues
Mapping, mine planning, mineral exploration, permitting, research of government land issues, and environmental geology
Provide help, designing and budgeting for projects at multiple plant locations
Additional work with other engineering disciplines
Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
Attend summer intern orientation event at corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, NV
Perform plant tasks as assigned
Education
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geology
Requirements/Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Good attendance and punctual
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Must possess valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles
Preferred:
Experience with equipment management software
Basic knowledge of CAD or GIS
Ability to hike up to 5 miles in desert summer conditions
Prior experience or internship in construction or building materials industry
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
