Job Description
The Lead Operational Risk Manager implements and enhances the global operational risk framework, oversees material change programs and risk events, and manages a team of two operational risk managers. This role provides risk reporting to senior management, advises business units on risk mitigation, and promotes a strong risk culture across the organization. Collaboration with stakeholders ensures consistent risk management practices and continuous improvement in processes and reporting.
The Lead Operational Risk Manager reports into the Head of European Risk.
Responsibilities: (List below)
Lead the local implementation and enhancement of the global operational risk framework, policies, and methodologies.
Provide active business oversight for material change programs within the company, including but not limited to system implementation and business process re-engineering.
Provide active business oversight for risk events ensuring through (root-cause) analysis that an appropriate risk response is developed by the company.
Manage and develop a team of operational risk professionals, setting clear goals, providing coaching, and fostering a high-performance culture.
Oversee the execution of scenario analysis, thematic reviews and emerging risk assessments.
Provide local operational risk reporting to senior management, boards, and risk committees, as well as input to global risk reporting.
Act as advisor to business units, providing expert consultation on risk events, root-cause analysis, and mitigation strategies.
Promote a strong risk culture across the organization through training, communication, and leadership.
Collaborate with global and local stakeholders to ensure consistent application of risk management practices.
Drive continuous improvement in risk processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
Support the Head of European Risk in crisis management activities.
Contribute and lead global risk initiatives in collaboration with the European Risk and other risk teams.
Required Qualifications:
Extensive experience in operational risk management within the investment management or financial services industry.
Proven track record in managing teams and/or leading complex risk-related projects.
Experience working in a global business environment.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Good sense of humor
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA, CRMA) are a plus.
