* This position serves as the Prison Enterprises Farm Supervisor for agricultural operations at Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP). Responsible for assisting the PE Farm Manager in the overall planning, coordination, and supervision of agricultural operations.
* This position offers a mix of hands-on experience and strategic oversight with contribution to a vital industry.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of farming experience that involved the use of mechanized equipment; or experience in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation or classification of offenders engaged in farming activities.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience for a maximum of four yea The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties: * Supervises and oversees agricultural operations to ensure all operate productively and profitably.
Confers with the PE Farm Manager, PE Regional Manager and PE Agricultural Manager regarding inmate assignments, transfers, and security.
Additionally, confers and informs the PE Farm Manager, PE Regional Manager & PE Agriculture Manager on reports, preventative maintenance programs, new products, new processes, and expansions of existing agriculture operations.
Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC) * The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Compensation: There is Premium Pay for this position.
A rate between $.50 and $1.00 an hour for each hour worked, based on years of service with Prison Enterprises in a qualifying position, in addition to regular pay.

* This is a 24-hour facility.
