Estimated Appointment End Date (Continuous if Blank) November 07, 2025 Full/Part-Time Full time Job Type Regular Compensation $63,000.00 Job Description Basic Purpose Positions in this job family conduct investigations related to regulatory compliance, such as licensing, certification, and training, background, and suspected violations of federal, state, or local laws, including major and covert investigations; document and collect findings/evidence according to established protocols; and maintain integrity of all aspects of the investigation by complying with established policies and procedures.
Typical Functions The functions performed in this job family will vary by level, unit and organization, but may include the following: * Investigates matters relating to regulatory compliance, such as licensing, certification, training, background investigations, regulatory violations, suspected violations of federal, state, or local laws to include major and covert investigations * Investigates or assists in the investigation of complaints against law enforcement agencies and officers, and private security companies, guards, and investigators, or others similarly employed * Interviews and questions witnesses, references, and other appropriate individuals to obtain facts and evidence regarding investigation being conducted * Collects and maintains information and evidence related to the investigation ensuring chain of custody is maintained when appropriate * Analyzes and evaluates collected information and evidence and prepares a written report * Appears as a witness in court proceedings to testify to the findings of the investigation * Maintains a working, professional relationship with persons related to the investigation * Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative communication with internal staff, law enforcement personnel, and others involved with the investigation * Serves as the agency's liaison for assistance and services to law enforcement, the private security industry, local government, other state agencies, and the general population * Develop and/or instructs law enforcement, private security, and other similar educational courses, as directed * Perform other job-related duties as assigned * Supervise lower-level investigative staff Level Descriptor Levels are distinguished based on the complexity of assigned duties, the level of expertise required for completion of work assignments, and the responsibility assigned for the supervision of others.
This is the career level of the job family where incumbents will conduct compliance and background investigations, complete evaluations of applicants and make recommendation to approve or deny requests and prepare investigative reports, drafts and/or other legal documents.
Incumbents may develop and instruct law enforcement educational courses with varying degrees of complexity for law enforcement, other similarly situated persons, and the community.
At this level, incumbents will serve as the agency liaison to assigned area.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies In addition to the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies identified in lower level(s), Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of federal, state, and administrative laws, statutes, and rules; modern methods of investigation; curriculum development; adult education principles and techniques; and community and client/customer relations.
Skills required include skill to actively listen; write clear and concise reports; and analyze information and data.
Abilities required include the ability to problem solve; make decisions based on information, data, and facts; and work both independently and in teams.
Education and Experience Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of possession of a Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) Peace Officer Certification or be eligible for Certification through Reciprocity, four (4) years of experience in law enforcement with two (2) years of experience as an instructor and/or investigator, and CLEET certified Basic Instructor Development.
Special Requirements This position requires extensive job-related travel.
Commissioned employees working for the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training will be required to pass a peace officer background investigation as defined in 70 OS § 3311E.
The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training requires candidates to have a valid Oklahoma's driver's license The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training may allow substitution for the Basic Instructor Development certification.
The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training may give preference to candidates with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field.
The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training may give preference to candidates with a skills instructor certification such as Defensive Tactics, Firearms, or Law Enforcement Driver Training.
The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training may give preference to candidates with experience in law enforcement supervision or management.
