We're on the lookout for a dynamic Director to lead our After School Program for the 2025-2026 school year. As the Director, you'll be the driving force behind every aspect of the operation of the Healthy Kids Program Site.

LOCATION: Grimshaw Elementary School in LaFayette, NY

PAY: $17.00 per hour

JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

HOURS: 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm

JOB CONSISTS OF:

Guiding Compliance: Make sure staff and programs follow OCFS regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and the rules set by our host school.

Bringing the Fun: Lead exciting, hands-on activities inspired by the Healthy Kids Curriculum—covering fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and more. And when it’s homework time, you’ll be the ultimate homework hero!

Managing Like a Pro: Oversee key management responsibilities such as keeping accurate attendance and registration records, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels to ensure the program runs seamlessly.

Keeping Everyone Connected: Foster open communication with parents and families through the Playground App.

Team Collaboration: Stay in consistent communication with your direct supervisor, keeping them updated on daily happenings and promptly addressing any issues that pop up. Together, we’ll deliver top-tier care, nurture a positive work environment, and proactively overcome any challenges that arise.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

To qualify as a director, candidates must have one of the following:

An Associate Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field; plus two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one year in a supervisory role within a child care or related program.

OR

A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; plus two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including one year in a supervisory capacity within a child care or similar program.

OR

A School-Age Child Care Credential or another credential recognized by the office as specific to the school-age developmental period; plus two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including one year in a supervisory role in a child care or related field.

OR

Two years of college with at least 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related area; plus two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including one year in a supervisory role in a child care or related setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

You’re medically cleared to perform all job duties and are free from communicable diseases, including TB.

You’re positive, friendly, and upbeat—with stellar communication skills that shine when engaging with children, parents, and coworkers. Dependable, professional, and punctual? That’s you!

You’re physically ready to bend, stretch, lift, and carry (up to 50 lbs.)—whatever it takes to keep pace with active kids.
