The City of Tallahassee is seeking a passionate and skilled Civil Engineer II or III to join our Traffic Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning, design, and oversight of crucial public infrastructure projects that will shape the city's future and improve the lives of our residents.

What You'll Do As a Civil Engineer II or III, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and oversight of municipal engineering projects.

You'll be directly involved in shaping the development of public infrastructure, from streets to utilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

As a Civil Engineer II, you will: * Review and prepare engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for construction and maintenance.

* Supervise and mentor technicians and junior engineers.

* Monitor traffic engineering activities and systems related to street design and traffic management.

* Coordinate and review development projects with contractors, developers, and consultants.

* Oversee the Development Review Committee (DRC) technical reports and participate in pre-DRC planning meetings.

* Manage the Traffic Calming Program and ensure projects stay on track with timely updates and budget management.

* Attend public meetings and respond to citizen concerns and inquiries.

* Supervise and evaluate technical staff performance.

As a Civil Engineer III, in addition to the above, you will: * Serve as a project manager, guiding projects from design to execution.

* Supervise and schedule teams of engineers, technicians, and other development staff.

* Lead stormwater programs and lake monitoring initiatives.

* Act as a liaison between the City and residents or other agencies, attending meetings and addressing inquiries.

* Play a critical role in staff development, managing performance evaluations and contributing to team growth.

* At least two years of professional engineering experience.

* Must have NCEE Engineer Intern Registration or equivalent.

* Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS). * Valid State of Florida Class E driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications for Civil Engineer III: * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.

* At least five years of professional engineering experience.

* Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida or have the ability to obtain PE registration within one year.

* Expertise in traffic engineering and project management.

* Valid State of Florida Class E driver's license.

Salary Range $29.0888 to $78.9348/hourly.

Additional Information Preferred Qualifications: * Deep knowledge of civil engineering principles, especially in transportation and utilities.

* Strong expertise in traffic studies, design, and implementation.

* Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

* Ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.

* Familiarity with public infrastructure development and regulatory compliance.

A flexible work schedule is available after completing a six-month probation period.
