About the Role

As a Senior Mineralogist with Actlabs, you will use your education, experience, logic, and creativity to help Actlabs lead and grow our mineralogy division. This pivotal role oversees advanced mineralogy techniques, including QEMSCAN, Mineral Liberation Analysis (MLA), and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) . This position may supervise and coordinate project activities and have other professionals and technicians reporting to it.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage mineralogical projects to optimize client satisfaction and project profitability.

Plan, supervise, and interpret mineralogical studies using QEMSCAN, MLA, and XRD technologies.

Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and strategic direction

Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and project managers to integrate mineralogical data into broader exploration and processing workflows.

Develop tailored mineralogical programs for clients in exploration, resource development, and production stages.

Ensure high-quality data interpretation, reporting, and client communication.

Oversee QA/QC protocols and ensure compliance with internal standards and industry best practices.

Drive innovation and improvements in mineralogical methodologies and workflows.

Ensure the proper usage, maintenance, and calibration of all laboratory facilities, instruments, and equipment used throughout project lifecycles.

Support business development activities through client engagement, proposal preparation, and conference presentations.

What You Bring to the Team:

Education : Degree in Geology, Mineralogy, or Geoscience (MSc or PhD preferred).

Experience : 5 or more years of previous working experience in a mineralogy related field

Required Skills:

Proven experience integrating mineralogical data into exploration and metallurgical projects.

Hands-on experience conducting a wide variety of mineralogical studies (base metal, precious metal, industrial mineral, environmental mineralogy, or REE mineralogy) using various instruments, including but not limited to X-ray diffraction, SEM-EDS, electron microprobe, image analysis, QEMSCAN/MLA, and other analytical techniques.

Proven ability to interpret and analyze data from automated applications (QEMSCAN, TIMA, SEM-EDS, XRD, EMPA, SIMS etc.) and apply this knowledge to diverse projects.

Strong leadership, project management, and attention to detail

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Familiarity with metallurgical testing and process mineralogy is an asset.
