Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned BAS Controls Technician for our team. This person will provide technical support, service and programming of HVAC Controls Systems on existing and new construction projects with our local customers. Ideal candidate will have strong experience in DDC, mechanical, electrical or related industries. Also worked as a technician working on multiple projects at one time for customers.

Under general direction, acts as the technical resource to execute, and complete control systems programming per project requirements. Performs tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including hardware design assistance, system programming, system and network commissioning and project closeout. Maintains an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results. Actively pursues achieving the customers' expectations. Coordinates communication with the project management and engineering team during all phases of the project. Ensures proper execution of installed software and programming, with desired real-world results. Provides work direction to install technicians, designers, and administration as necessary. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. Ensures self, staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards, even when no one is looking.

An ideal candidate will have some of the following expectations.

Completes typical software programming using established DDC standards as required. Coordinate software design with installed hardware and achieve design operation of equipment to customers expectation.

Provides jobsite coordination for start-up of installed equipment and programming. Ensures installation performs in accordance with product literature and project requirements.

Manages and completes the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validates complete system functionality and resolves issues with installation discrepancies to ensure proper operation. Provides accurate information to update project as built and commissioning documentation as changes and updates to programming or equipment is recognized.

Provides coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers and System Designers. Provides technical assistance to subcontractors, customers and end-users.

Ensures that delegated tasks are done accurately, on time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract.

Effectively communicates the status of projects to management as required and provides monthly forecasts of time required to complete project execution and operation.

Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensures owner/operator has been trained. Provides proper documentation and manuals for system operation and demonstrates expectations in the sequence of operations.

Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required.

Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

Desired Qualifications

Preference of a technical Associates Degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent related field experience in the HVAC industry. Preferred relevant technical hands-on experience in systems operation and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems. Preferred ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience. Preferred ability to perform work independently. Strong personal computer skills. Preferred knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.

Ideal candidate would be familiar with programming and troubleshooting of controls products such as Tridium Niagara and Alerton or similar systems. Have experience with communication protocols; IP, BACnet, Modbus, FOXS etc.

Haystack and SkySpark Axon and/or Fantom programming would be highly desired and rewarded accordingly.
