This is a contract-based role for a Fundraising Copywriter located in Surrey, BC, with the option to work remotely from Toronto.
The Fundraising Copywriter will be responsible for writing compelling content to support fundraising campaigns, including emails, newsletters, social media posts, and donation appeals.
You’ll collaborate closely with our fundraising, digital marketing, and design teams to ensure our donor communications reflect the warmth, authenticity, and purpose at the heart of SAF.
Core Writing & Content Creation Write, edit, and proofread persuasive fundraising materials, including: Social media ad copy and impact stories Website donation pages and thank-you messages Scripts for events, videos, and appeals Produce multiple variations of headlines, CTAs, and leads for testing.
Transform data and stories into meaningful, emotion-driven narratives that reflect Sikh values and impact.
Use behavioural insights (urgency, community, social proof) ethically and authentically.
Review campaign results (open rates, CTR, response rates, donations) and adjust copy based on performance.
Support SEO-friendly storytelling for web and blog content that enhances SAF’s digital reach.
Work from creative briefs and campaign goals with autonomy and accountability.
Partner with internal teams to deliver high-quality copy on schedule.
3–5 years’ experience in fundraising, nonprofit, or marketing copywriting.
~ Proven ability to write persuasive, donor-focused content that drives response.
~ Strong understanding of donor psychology, storytelling, and community-building messaging.
~ Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and Canadian English style.

~ Comfortable balancing creativity with data and deadlines.
Bonus points if you have: Experience writing for faith-based, Sikh, or values-driven organizations.
Knowledge of direct mail formats, production, or basic SEO.
