Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager
Type: 3-Month Contract Assignment
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday - 6:00am to 2:00pm
Locations: Aurora, IL (mostly) and Addison, IL (multi-site)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager to oversee FSQA programs at two commissary facilities in Addison and Aurora, IL. This individual will ensure compliance with food safety regulations, government standards, and company policies, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, FDA, and USDA guidelines.
The FSQA Manager will lead initiatives to maintain product integrity, drive corrective actions, and support operational teams to meet quality and safety goals.
Core Responsibilities
Lead FSQA programs to maintain compliance with all regulatory and finished product standards.
Partner with Operations and Maintenance to promote quality and food safety ownership on the production floor.
Plan, conduct, and monitor testing and inspections of materials and products to ensure compliance.
Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP plans, conduct assessments, and manage HACCP records.
Maintain a comprehensive library of GMPs, SOPs, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
Recommend and monitor corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
Develop and execute training programs to support food safety objectives.
Ensure new regulations are promptly implemented across both facilities and with suppliers.
Represent quality assurance in cross-functional teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Interact with external agencies such as USDA and OSHA and effectively present findings or reports.
Required Qualifications
HACCP certification required.
4+ years of experience in FSQA or Quality Assurance roles within a food manufacturing environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FDA, USDA, and food labeling regulations.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and skilled at preparing written reports and documentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
Ability to multi-task, manage projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
SQF, BRC, or other GFSI certifications strongly preferred.
Experience leading a facility to SQF-level certification.
Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and frequently use hands for typing, phone, and computer work.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
Comfortable working in hot or cold environments and handling cleaning chemicals safely (PPE provided).
