Position Summary
Polymer Science, Inc. is seeking a motivated Chemist to join our Engineering Team. This role will focus on supporting new product development, process optimization, and manufacturing scale-up of polymer and adhesive systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to both R&D initiatives and production support.
Key Responsibilities
The position is a hands-on chemist position with an emphasis on formulation of silicone, acrylic, polyurethane and hydrogel adhesives and coatings
Monitor and update the company of new and developing technologies that may impact company products and markets
Troubleshoot raw materials and interact with suppliers
Provide scientific and analytical approaches to product development
Provide product support to engineering during scale-up and commercialization
Evaluate effect of design changes on product performance and stability
Update datasheets, drawings and other related documentation
Provide written reports at regularly scheduled intervals throughout product development
Qualifications
B.S. degree in chemistry, polymer chemistry preferred
2 to 5+ years of relevant work experience is preferred, especially in the area of polymer formulating
Ability to provide hands-on technical leadership with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work as a team member in a production environment
Ability to be self-managing and task focused
Highly motivated and results oriented
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, management, suppliers and customers
Polymers, adhesives or coating experience (desirable, but not required)
Proficient in Microsoft Suite Software
Accurate and attentive to details
