The Team
Silanna is seeking a Staff Equipment Engineer to join our Technology Development team. You’ll work across our Brisbane and Adelaide facilities, supporting the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of advanced semiconductor and MBE equipment.

Your New Position
As a Staff Equipment Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Silanna’s Technology Development and Research teams. Reporting to the Technology Development Executive Manager, you’ll lead equipment engineering activities across our facilities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of our semiconductor and MBE systems.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to plan, install, qualify, and maintain advanced equipment, while driving continuous improvement initiatives and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead installation, maintenance, and optimisation of MBE and semiconductor process equipment
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to scale up MBE processes
• Develop innovative solutions to eliminate recurring equipment failures
• Provide technical training and documentation for engineers and technicians
• Work with vendors to enhance equipment performance and reduce costs
• Support facility planning and new equipment acquisition
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and innovative team culture
About You
You’ll bring a strong foundation in engineering along with extensive hands-on experience in semiconductor equipment and MBE systems. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
• BS degree in Mechanical, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related engineering field
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience working with MBE equipment, epitaxy, or UHV equipment
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with semiconductor fabrication equipment in one or more of the following areas: Photolithography, Wets, CVD, PVD, Diffusion
• Experience working in a fab facility, including equipment installation and maintenance
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, line maintenance, and facility maintenance teams
• Proven capability to work independently, with minimal supervision and a strong focus on timely project delivery
• Ability to conceive and implement innovative solutions, either independently or in collaboration with process teams or vendors
• Proficiency in interpreting and working with engineering drawings
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex hardware issues in semiconductor equipment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with technical personnel at all levels
• Experience as a supportive and contributing team member in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Willingness to work outside regular office hours or travel as required
